Right Mind, my male Quaker parrot, rearranges wooden coffee stirrers in his cage. I put them on the cage top and he pulls them in. I don't know what prompts re-decorating, but he often has projects going on in several places. Then a week later, new projects! He also places the leather strips in new locations, or weaves them around toys, which then become part of the decor, never to be played with.
Right Mind is trying to speak English and knows a few words. He says, "Hi Baby," with great enthusiasm. He likes to mutter, "Oh, yeah, silly boy." He will repeat, "Good boy," to himself. He will say, "I love you, love you," and "What happened!" He knows, "Ah, oh," pretty well (since he usually is the cause of it to be uttered!) He struts out to the end of his cage door in the morning, puffs up his chest and says, "Hello," in quite a dignified manner.
He likes to talk as well as fuss, and I caught him in the middle of some heartfelt opinion, probably an awwwwwwwaaack.
Blue Moon, his girl friend and cage mate is shy and hides from the camera. She is sweet, but only seeks to be kissed once or twice a week. She ran down the other day to join my little silly session with Right Mind. He was saying, "I love you, love you." She reached out and gave me a tiny smooch and said softly, "Good boy." I guess she's learning to talk also.
Both the Quakers have mastered my laugh. And we all sit and egg each other on. I laugh, they laugh, I laugh harder. This is good for my health!
Right Mind loves to get sprayed. Then he looks around for a water dish to splash all over the place.
